The original G20 policemen images.
Just for the record, these men were policing the protest area near the Excel centre on the second day of the G20 summit. The atmosphere there was passionate, but peaceful and there was no hint of aggression from the members of the police force present, not that I detected anyway and I was there for several hours.
However, I can’t say the same for outside the bank of England later that day. The atmosphere was tense, menacing and the police force were aggressive. There was a lot of jostling and driving back crowds, which I became caught up in, becoming separated from my boyfriend at the same time. Whilst trying to co-operate with the police and move backwards I was barged from behind by an officer and nearly sent flying, which I didn’t really appreciate as I had had such a positive view of the police presence earlier in the day. Swings and roundabouts, eh?
